Comprehensive chimney care for your home's safety and efficiency

Local Chimney Sweep And Cleaning

Creosote builds up every time you burn wood - and it's the #1 cause of chimney fires. We clean the full flue system from top to firebox, removing soot, glazed creosote, and blockages so your chimney draws properly and your family stays safe.

Chimney Inspection

Level 1, 2, or 3 - we match the inspection to the situation. Buying a home? Level 2 with video. Annual checkup? Level 1 covers it. We document everything with photos and give you a clear report, not a sales pitch.

Chimney Repair

Cracked crowns, crumbling mortar joints, damaged flue tiles - we fix what's broken before it becomes a bigger problem. Most repairs take a day or less, and we'll show you exactly what needs work before we start.

Chimney Cap Installation

A chimney without a cap is an open invitation for rain, raccoons, and downdrafts. We install stainless steel and copper caps with built-in spark arrestors, custom-sized to fit your flue opening exactly.

Chimney Liner

Older chimneys often have cracked clay tiles or no liner at all - both are fire hazards. We install stainless steel and cast-in-place liners that meet current code and actually improve your draft.

Chimney Masonry Repair

Brick and mortar don't last forever, especially in humid climates. We repoint deteriorated joints, replace spalled bricks, and match existing materials so the repair blends in. Catches water problems before they reach your interior walls.

Chimney Flashing Repair

That dark stain on your ceiling near the chimney? Probably failed flashing. We remove the old material, install new step and counter flashing, and seal everything properly. Stops leaks at the source.

Chimney Rebuilds

When repair isn't enough, we rebuild. From the roofline up or from the foundation - depends on how far the damage goes. New masonry, new liner, new cap, new flashing. Done right so you won't need us again for decades.

Chimney Animal Removal

Scratching sounds? Foul smell? Birds, squirrels, and raccoons love chimneys. We remove them humanely, clear out nesting material, and cap the flue so they can't get back in.

Fireplace Cleaning

Ash piling up in the firebox, soot on the damper, smoke stains on the surround - we clean it all. Includes the firebox, smoke shelf, and damper assembly. Your fireplace will look and work like it should.

Chimney Fireplace Repair

Smoke pouring into the room instead of going up? Damper stuck? Cracked smoke chamber? We diagnose the actual problem - not guess - and fix it. Most fireplace issues are straightforward once you know where to look.

Firebox Repair

Cracked firebricks and deteriorated refractory panels are more than cosmetic - they let heat reach combustible framing behind the wall. We replace damaged bricks and mortar with proper heat-rated materials.

Gas Fireplace Cleaning

Gas fireplaces still need annual service. Dust coats the burner and logs, the pilot assembly corrodes, and the glass fogs up. We clean the full unit - burner, pilot, glass, and venting - so it runs clean and stays under warranty.

Gas Fireplace Repair

Pilot won't stay lit? No heat? Remote stopped working? We troubleshoot gas fireplace issues from thermocouples to valve assemblies. Certified on all major brands - Heatilator, Lennox, Napoleon, Majestic, and more.

Wood Stove Repair

Door gaskets wear out, baffles warp, glass cracks. We service all wood stove brands - replace worn parts, adjust the door seal, and make sure your stove drafts correctly. Gets your heat output back where it should be.

Pellet Stove Repair

Auger jams, igniter failures, control board errors - pellet stoves have more moving parts than most people realize. We diagnose and repair the issue, clean the exhaust path, and get your stove feeding and burning properly again.

Duct Cleaning

Your HVAC pushes air through every duct in the house - along with whatever's living in them. Dust, pet dander, mold spores, construction debris. We clean the full system and you'll notice the difference in air quality immediately.

Dryer Duct Cleaning

Lint in your dryer vent is a fire waiting to happen - it's one of the top causes of house fires nationally. We clean the full run from the dryer to the exterior vent. Clothes dry faster, energy bill drops, fire risk gone.

Commercial Air Duct Cleaning

Restaurants, offices, multi-unit buildings - commercial ductwork collects grease, dust, and allergens at scale. We schedule after hours to keep your business running and bring your system up to health code standards.

Chimney Cap Installation

October 7, 2025 Main Street
Problem

Customer reported missing or ineffective chimney caps and a deteriorated concrete crown/parge on the masonry flues and chase; prior patching and sealant was visible but not providing reliable waterproofing. The exposed flue openings and compromised crown presented a risk of water intrusion, animal entry and potential spark/ember escape.

Solution

On 10/07/2025 we installed a new black metal chimney cap with mesh spark arrestor on the primary brick flue and fitted a galvanized cap assembly with sloped rain cover on the rectangular chase, seating both on newly installed chase covers. We applied a fresh parge coat to the chimney crown, secured and sealed the step/counter-flashing with roofing sealant where required, and staged work while the crown cured.

Chimney crowns and caps are now secure and weatherproofed and the spark arrestors are in place to reduce fire and animal-entry risk. Advised customer to have a follow-up inspection after the new parge has fully cured to confirm final seal integrity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from Aulander

What's a typical price for a chimney sweep in Aulander, NC, and are there local factors that might change the cost? LOCAL

+

Locally, in Aulander, expect to pay between $175 and $275 for a standard chimney sweep and Level 1 inspection. Prices can fluctuate due to our humid climate leading to quicker creosote accumulation, particularly with local pine wood commonly used for heating. Heavy buildup can require more intensive cleaning, raising the final cost. The unique characteristics of older homes in the area can also add complexity to the job. After assessing your chimney, we'll provide a clear, fixed quote, ensuring you’re well-informed before any work starts.

I burn a lot of pine from my property here in Aulander. Does that mean I need my chimney swept more often than the standard recommendation? LOCAL

+

Using local pine in Aulander can significantly increase your chimney maintenance needs. Pines emit a higher resin content, resulting in quicker creosote accumulation compared to hardwoods. To mitigate the fire risks associated with this buildup, we recommend more frequent inspections and sweeps for homeowners using pine, perhaps scheduling a mid-season check alongside the annual clean. This precaution protects your home and ensures your chimney operates safely, especially if you're burning a lot of pine. We can help tailor a cleaning schedule that fits your specific usage.

When is the best time of year to schedule a chimney sweep in Aulander, NC, considering our humid climate and busy seasons? LOCAL

+

In Aulander, the best period to schedule your chimney sweep aligns with the late spring and summer months, specifically April through August. This timeframe avoids the fall rush when many homeowners prepare for winter fires. Cleaning in the summer not only gives you flexible scheduling but also mitigates moisture absorption into the chimney, which can degrade the structure. Plus, this allows us ample time to address any repairs we might find, ensuring your system is safe and ready for use when the colder months arrive.

I think I hear birds in my chimney here in Aulander. Is this a safety concern, especially with our local wildlife? LOCAL

+

If you suspect birds in your chimney in Aulander, this is indeed a safety concern. Commonly, these chirping sounds indicate the presence of chimney swifts, whose nests can block airflow and pose fire hazards. While these birds are protected during nesting season, it's essential to have a professional inspection afterward to ensure any nesting materials and creosote are cleared. We can also recommend installing a chimney cap to prevent future bird intrusions. This keeps your chimney safe and functional, providing peace of mind for your household.

Do I need a permit to install a new wood stove and chimney in my home in Aulander, NC? LOCAL

+

In Aulander, obtaining a building permit is necessary for installing any new wood-burning appliance, including wood stoves. This regulation ensures compliance with the North Carolina State Building Code, which aligns with NFPA 211 standards. The review process involves submitting your installation plans to the county, and an inspector will verify the work post-installation. This measure protects your home and family from potential fire hazards. Our team is well-versed in local requirements and can guide you through the permitting process seamlessly.
